Hip-hop and club music legend AFRIKA BAMBAATAA returns in top form with a brand new single entitled "You Ask For The Moon" complete with new remixes by CHRIS COX (of THUNDERPUSS) & Dave "The Wave" and Ultimix's DJ Volume. Afrika Bambaataa has teamed with Italy's Expanded Music (best known for their several European hits by Floorfilla) to produce this modern club classic. Here, Bambaataa's familiar rap stylings are enveloped in an irresistible electronica-influenced rhythm track that has all the makings of a hit. "You Ask For The Moon" has already enjoyed great success in Europe and now arrives stateside courtesy of Jeff Johnson's Megahit Records.
Considered one of the godfathers of hip-hop, Afrika Bambaataa gained legendary status with the release of 1982's "Planet Rock" which fused hip-hop with the European electronic sound resulting in one of the most influential club records of all time. After the "electro" sound of "Planet Rock" exploded, many electro singles and groups followed. "Planet Rock" influenced several predominant dance sounds of the 80's and 90's, including Miami Freestyle, Detroit Techno and, to a lesser extent, Chicago House. Afrika Bambaataa later worked with the likes of James Brown, Boy George, John Lydon, George Clinton and UB40 to name a few. His Zulu Nation collective - a group of Afrocentric musicians who later rose to fame in the late 80's - included De La Soul, Queen Latifah, A Tribe Called Quest and The Jungle Brothers. With "You Ask For The Moon" Afrika Bambaataa once again fuses hip-hop with electronic music for a sound that is perfectly in sync with today's club scene.
In addition to the Fat Boy Slim-styled groove of the original "DJ Peedoo Mix," "You Ask For The Moon" also features exclusive brand new remixes by Chris Cox of THUNDERPUSS & Dave "The Wave" - the dramatic hi-NRG "Wave The Cox Reach The Stars" mix and the thundering "Wave The Cox Drums Of Doom" mix. With Thunderpuss, Chris Cox, has landed no less than 13 #1 Billboard Dance Chart hits over the past two years! Also included is DJ Volume's Miami-flavored booty-bumpin' "Ulti-Remix."
