On the heels of the first MTrax release "Be Ridin'" by Patrice Strike feat. Alexander Mars (which is already causing a stir in the underground) comes an impressive new record from the red-hot French house music scene - "Sun Rays" by A.N.D. feat. Mr. M. Produced by A.N.D. for the up-and-coming S.I.G.L.E. Production House in Paris, the driving, infectious house groove of "Sun Rays" also showcases the soulful and powerful vocals of Algerian singer Mr. M.
A.N.D. (aka Patrick Levy) started his career in music playing bass and guitar in French punk rock and new wave bands in the early 80s. Inspired by the likes of Depeche Mode and Human League, Patrick soon bought a synthesizer and drum box and began composing and producing his own original material. Patrick eventually worked his way into the burgeoning French house music scene and began producing records under various names for S.I.G.L.E. and Penso Positivo in France and Tidalwave in England. His career has even included productions of TV jingles! When he tells people he works in area of house music, he's always asked, "Where are you playing? Are you a DJ?" To which he replies, "No, I'm just a musician." So, he decided to call himself - Ain't No DJ!
In addition to the soulful French house groove of the "Original Mix," "New Funkin' Mix" and Paris' DJ Lith de Lanka's quirky "Lith de Lanka Dub," "Sun Rays" also features - perhaps the highlight of the package - rising L.A. house remixer J. Randolph's wicked "Solar Flare Mix" and "Solar Flare Dub" which are already receiving club and radio play off of CD-R! Taken from the MTrax compilation Club Metro: House Grooves from the French Underground, "Sun Rays" is available on CD5 and 12" vinyl formats.
