Engelbert Humperdinck - the legendary "King of Romance" - is back with the first single from his a brand new album entitled The Dance Album available on the red-hot dance label Interhit Records - recent winner of the first ever "Best Dance Recording" Grammy. First released in 1967, "Release Me" earned the distinction of being the first record to keep the Beatles out of the #1 spot on the UK pop charts. It soon became Engelbert's signature song, as well as a pop standard.
Now, Interhit Records presents this classic hit, newly-recorded for 1998 by Engelbert, as a contemporary dance record! Coupled in a medley with the gospel-house inspired "Gotta Get Release" - featuring the vocals of club divas Thea Austin (of Snap! fame) and Abigail (three #1 DMA Chart hits) - "Release Me" becomes an amazing club anthem which will appeal to mainstream and underground dance music fans alike.
"Release Me/Gotta Get Release" is produced by Chris Cox (who mixed on LA's now defunct Groove 103.1) and Barry Harris (Kon Kan/Top Kat/Outta Control) who, individually and collectively, have produced or remixed for artists such as Whitney Houston, Donna Summer, Billie Myers, Duke, KMFDM, Deni Hines, Paula Abdul, Heaven 17, Queen Latifah, 2 Unlimited, , DJ Supreme, and many more. As their own group (wonderfully named Thunderpuss 2000), they produced and performed the current Top 40 Billboard Hot Dance Maxi-Single Sales Chart hit "Godzilla." Both lent their remixing skills to this year's Grammy award-winning "Carry On" by Donna Summer & Giorgio Moroder.
"Release Me/Gotta Get Release" offers a full remix package with mixes ranging from pop/house to tribal/underground. Remixers include New York's own Joey Moscowitz (the keyboard whiz behind the remixes of Jr. Vasquez and David Morales), hot Canadian talent Paul Grace (of the Virgin Records act The Boomtang Boys) and the omnipresent Thunderpuss 2000.
