Mardi Gras really need no introduction. The annual celebration of gay & lesbian culture has been going since the inaugural march for gay rights in 1978 and at the core of the modern festival is the infamous parade leading to the ultimate dance party with over 22,000 people dancing the night away at The Horden, RHI Stage 11 & The Dome catering to all musical tastes of which are presented here on the Joy Melbourne presents: Mardi Gras 2004 CD.
JOY Melbourne 94.9 FM is Australia's only gay and lesbian radio station committed to providing a voice for the diverse lesbian and gay communities, enabling freedom of expression, the breaking down of isolation, and the celebration of our culture, achievements and pride. The station was happy to be involved in the conception of this years compilation and polled their listeners and the DJs as to what songs encapsulated the Mardi Gras spirit and sounds being played by the scenes biggest DJs.
