Get ready for Sweden’s hottest new export…SONIC DREAM COLLECTIVE!!!
From ABBA to Roxette to Ace of Base to The Cardigans, Sweden has long been a source of great pop music. 1997 marks the emergence of yet another Scandinavian star in pop music’s ever-changing night sky…SONIC DREAM COLLECTIVE. SONIC DREAM COLLECTIVE’s reggae-tinged pop/dance sound can be described as original, melodic, inventive, catchy, but, most of all, irresistible. SONIC DREAM COLLECTIVE is Linn Engstrom (Lead Vocals), Jon Hallgren (Vocals/Guitar/Keyboards) and Anders Wagberg (Bass/Keyboards). The band, who hails from Uppsala, Sweden, claims influences ranging from the Beatles to ABBA to the synth-pop of the early 80s. The three met in 1992 during the recording of a radio ad for which Jon and Anders had written the music and Linn was the singer. The group began to take shape in 1994 and soon released its first single “Take Me Back.” Their undeniable talent, great looks and knack for writing hit songs proved to be the perfect recipe for success and they quickly became stars in their home country. In fact, last year’s smash debut album Gravity generated no less than four hit singles for the band. Already well-known throughout most of the rest of the world, SONIC DREAM COLLECTIVE finally arrives on US shores courtesy of Interhit Records - the label that always brings you the hottest hits from Europe first.
The debut single from the US version of Gravity is the reggae-flavored pop gem “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” which showcases Jon and Anders’ songwriting and production skills, Linn’s appealing vocals and a guest Jamaican “toast” from rapper Mr. Gee. Special US dance mixes are served up hot by the percolating Chris Cox (whose remix of Donna Summer & Giorgio Moroder’s “Carry On” is currently causing quite a stir at both clubs and radio) and up-and-coming LA underground remixer DJ Irene. A simply beautiful UK House Mix is also provided by renown UK remixing team Jupiter. This stellar package is complimented by a hauntingly beautiful video in which the band performs at a 60s-styled dance while a breakup ensues of military proportions! Full radio, mix show, record pool and club service underscores Interhit’s 100% commitment to this single and album. “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” is available on CD Maxi and 12” Vinyl.
